Before that, Elana worked for more than 10 years as a community organizer in the affordable housing movement in NYC--most significantly at the Pratt Area Community Council (now known as IMPACCT Brooklyn), a community development corporation in Brooklyn. While at PACC, she was the chair of Real Rent Reform campaign, a statewide coalition which successfully strengthened New York State’s rent laws for the first time in decades.

Elana served over a decade on the Board of Directors of her Jewish community, Romemu and was past participant in the Wexner Heritage Program.
